The sultry supermodel-filled Pirelli calendar still isn’t the first place you’d expect to find a political or social message, but that bottom line is absolutely changing. While the 2016 issue celebrated the female body and featured women of all shapes and sizes.

Now, the latest iteration for 2018 is going a step further in a quest to become more socially conscious and promote diversity in the fashion industry and beyond. Next year’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland–themed Pirelli calendar was photographed by Tim Walker and styled by newly minted editor in chief of British Vogue Edward Enninful. For the first time in the calendar’s 50-year history, it showcases an all-black cast.
